“It’s Time”

When I was growing up, every school morning, my mom would come into my room and say, “Joanie, it’s time, get up”. Whenever we would go somewhere she would say, “It’s time, let’s go”. There were many other instances when she would say, “it’s time”. Some I was excited for and others not so excited. And sometimes it was just ‘time’ to be still.

“It’s time.” This is what God said to the Israelites in the wilderness. Even though they had witnessed many miracles of God, they did not trust Him. They needed the ‘wilderness time’ to prepare and learn. Eventually, they became comfortable there. Eventually, God said they had been there long enough and it was time’ to move into the promise land.

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Deuteronomy 1:6

Also, with us, there are times we are to be in the wilderness, and there is a time to move out. The wilderness is a place we can grow and learn, but if there too long, we become stuck. God wants us to seek Him and His will for us in all ‘times’. The only way we can do that is through prayer, studying His Word, and fellowship with other Christians. We should continuously seek Him, not just when we feel the need.

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14

I image when God appeared to Solomon and told him His people should humble themselves and pray and seek Him and turn from their wicked ways, He didn’t mean to wait until they felt like it or when they were ready. He meant NOW.

Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers…Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Romans 13:11,14

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he tells them the ‘time’ is now and to wake from sleep. They were getting ready for battle. WE too should wake from sleep and prepare for battle. Jesus promised to come back. We don’t know when He will come, nor do we know when each of ourtime’ is up. We all need to be ready and not be asleep.

It’s time.” Can you hear Jesus saying that to you?

  • What is your ‘time’?
  • Have you been in the wilderness too long and God is ready for you to move into a promise.
  • Is it ‘time’ for something as small as extending a helping hand, donating, or maybe something a bit bigger like relocating, new employment, mission work, or starting a ministry.
  • For some it may be ‘time’ for salvation if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior.
  • ‘Time’ could mean a change of perspective, a change of attitude, or a change of heart.
  • Maybe your ‘time’ is committing a change within yourself of forgiveness, prejudice, or just not liking someone or something.
Whatever your ‘time’ is, it’s ALWAYS ‘time’ for a deeper commitment to God and seeking Him always and in all areas of your life.
